Bad DVD covers depress me. Like many, I'm obsessed with the Criterion Collection and creating fake editions is one of my favorite personal projects.

For years I've been obsessed with the book clutches of Olympia Le-Tan, but with price tags of $2,000 and upwards, they've remained an accessory pipe dream. 

After researching DIY tutorials I took a stab at creating my own with an old book, thin wood board, fabric and gold spray paint.

The cover was embroidered entirely by hand and is an exact design replica of the published book of lyrics by Pulp frontman (and personal idol) Jarvis Cocker. 

My second DIY-Olympia Le-Tan book clutch was inspired by one of my all-time favorite films, François Truffaut's L'amour en fuite (Love on the Run).

Unlike the previous version I created by using wood for the edges, this time I experimented with using a strip of aluminum to give a more polished look.
